Everything You Need to Know

Q: Is it affiliated with UVA?

A: No. Dabney Card is an independent, student-owned company and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the University of Virginia.

Q: Why is it called “The Dabney Card”?

A: It’s named after Dabney Carr, Thomas Jefferson’s closest friend. As boys, they made a pact to be buried together beneath an oak tree on the land that would become Monticello. Carr died young and was buried there first. Jefferson joined him over 50 years later. That loyalty and sense of place inspire everything this card stands for.

Q: Who created it?

A: Dabney Card, LLC, was founded in 2025 by Grey Edens, a student at the University of Virginia, to strengthen the relationship between the UVA students and the city through local partnerships and everyday student life.

Q: What kinds of perks do I get?

A: You can view the full list of perks here.

Q: Is there a digital version?

A: Yes. The Dabney Card comes in two digital formats: Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: $20 for 3 months. The card is designed to pay for itself within the first few uses.

Q: Do you offer group sales?

A: All student organizations can join The Dabney Circle — a group plan offering cards for all members, optional greek life chapter branding, and social media perks. Contact us for pricing and custom options.
